Do you know that we as a population have a deficiency in many major vitamins and minerals?
One of the major vitamins that we are deficient in is Vitamin D3, which in reality is a hormone. The only way for sure to know that you are deficient in Vitamin D3 is to have a blood test. After your blood test the vitamin D3 level should be a minimum of 40 ng/ml (if you are in the United States), but should not exceed 100 ng/ml. Problem is that many people after they get their results have D3 level below 20 or even below 10, and this is the reason for many of the major health problems that people have.
Here are some of the symptoms of low Vitamin D3 – if you have any of the following symptoms you should get a blood test to have your D3 level checked.
- Bone Loss: If you have been diagnosed with low mineral bone density it can be a sign of vitamin D deficiency. It is important to consume enough Vitamin D to preserve bone mass as you get older. Many women who have been diagnosed with bone loss take more calcium – which is what they should be doing, but they also need to supplement with Vitamin D3 as well, as they work hand in hand to preserve bone loss.
- Frequent Illness or Infection: Vitamin D3 will keep your immune system strong so you are able to fight off viruses that will cause illness.
- Chronic Fatigue and Tiredness: Low vitamin D3 levels cause fatigue and tiredness. Some women who have complained of daytime fatigue and headaches have been found to have a D3 level below 10 ng/ml.
- Bone and Back Pain: If you have bone pain or lower back pain you may have inadequate levels of Vitamin D3 in your blood. Vitamin D3 improves the body’s absorption of calcium, which is important because without adequate levels of D3 you may not absorb the calcium you are taking.
- Depression: Recent studies have indicated that low levels of Vitamin D can be linked to depression. Supplementing with vitamin D3 has been shown to improve the mood.
If you have any of the above health issues you may want to consider a high-quality Vitamin D3 +K2 supplement. I say high-quality because many of the supplements on the market are not high quality and do not get absorbed by the body very easily or not at all. This is especially true of minerals such as Calcium or Magnesium, which do not get absorbed by the body very easily. I take a high-quality Calcium, which has magnesium, Vitamin D3 and K2 in it. It is very high quality and has a 95% absorption rate.
Never take Vitamin D3 without K2, not taking D3 with K2 together can be harmful to your health. When it comes to calcium metabolism, vitamins D3 and K2 work together. Vitamin D3 gets calcium into your blood, and vitamin K2 gets it to the bones and prevents the calcium from accumulating in your arteries, kidneys or heart.
Keep in mind as I mentioned earlier that not all supplements are created equal. Many of them found in department stores and grocery stores are not able to be absorbed by the body and will not do you any good. That means that if you purchase inferior supplements your body is not going to be able to absorb them. If you are going to supplement be sure you are purchasing high-quality supplements. The kind I take is a brand called Isotonix which is 95% bioavailable. Please contact me if you have any questions on any supplements, I am here to help.
Its hard to find knowledgeable people on this topic, but you sound like you know what youre talking about! Thanks
