The thing that is on everyone’s mind these days is the Coronavirus, or as it’s referred to, COVID-19. So, let’s talk about some of the ways we can stay healthy during this pandemic – beyond of course washing our hands, drinking lots of water and social distancing.
First, we need to boost our immune system. Our immune system can be boosted in the following ways:
- Regular chiropractic adjustments
- The addition of various supplements – Vitamin C – 2000 mg daily, Vitamin D3 – 5000 iu or more daily, Probiotics, and Zinc – 75 mg or more daily. Make sure the supplements you take are high-quality and not the cheapest thing you can find (cheap will not do the job).
- Reduce your stress level – deep breathing, meditation, taking herbs such as Ashwaganda.
- Sleep better – Stress is tied to sleep, stress raises your cortisol levels, if your cortisol levels are high you will have trouble sleeping. Taking 300-500 mg of magnesium about 30 minutes before bed to help you get a better night’s sleep.
There are also things we need to eliminate if we want to stay healthy during this virus outbreak:
- Eliminate sugar – Sugar is in everything and really hard to eliminate, but do your best to try, if you need something sweet try eating some fruit – a few grapes or a banana. Sugar will weaken your immune system if consumed in large quantities.
- Stop consuming dairy – Products that contain dairy can weaken your immune system. There are many non-dairy products to replace dairy ones – non-dairy creamer, non-dairy sour cream, almond milk, oat milk, etc.
Also, during this time we need to make sure we are eating healthy. Eat plenty of fruits and veggies (8-10 servings daily), eat lean meats (3-5 ounces per meal), eat grass fed beef and free-range eggs, cook with healthy fats (olive oil, coconut oil), cook with spices such as turmeric, ginger, garlic, and oregano. Avoid processed foods (fast food, pasta, bread, cookies, cakes, etc.) as they will not boost your immune system.
To sum it up:
- Drink ½ your body weight in ounces of water
- Wash your hands many times a day
- Eat a healthy diet
- Add in supplements that will boost your immune system
- Eliminate all sugar and dairy
- Reduce stress
- Sleep 7-9 hours nightly
- Get regular chiropractic adjustments
